Our Summer...

So this summer has been a little bit insane for Nate and I. I started out the summer moving to Blanding (without Nate) so that I could get some experience at the hospital there. Nate only planned to take two summer semesters at the time that I left and was going to move to Blanding with me at the end of June. Sounded like a good plan, right?? No way, suckiest plan ever. Nate ended up deciding to take the second o-chem after he passed the first which meant we would be apart the whole summer (probably not the best idea for us). Anyway, I ended up quitting my job after only four weeks and I moved back to Cedar City. So for about a month I had no job and I wasn't going to school which sounds like fun but it actually almost killed me. Taking two naps a day was sublime but after awhile you start to feel like a waste of space so I started looking harder for a job and finally got one! I am now working as an LPN at the nursing home in Parowan and I actually love it. It's a really good place for me to start out my nursing career because I can gain experience as a charge nurse (I know, crazy that only one nurse works at a time but technically that makes me a charge nurse even as an LPN)and the people I work with are awesome. Nate ended up passing his o-chem courses which was such a relief and he has officially completed all of the prerequisites for dental school, yay! Now he'll just be working on his major and preparing for the DAT which he'll take next spring right before he applies to schools. Other than that not a whole lot has happened this summer. I did get Lasik in May which has been AMAZING and we just got back from the high Uintas on a horseback riding trip with Nate's family (which I will blog about later. We will spend the next week and a half in Blanding hanging out until school starts and then it's back to facing the stresses of school again. Only one more semester until I'm finally finished and I can't wait! Anyway, I hope nobody is reading this because my posts are for my own journaling purposes and could prove to be crazy boring for anyone else to read. Also, I'm still waiting on getting a camera so I have no pictures again but hopefully that will change soon.

4th of July and Blanding Trip

Well, as always, I completely suck at blogging but in my defense my camera is a piece and I feel like it's boring to blog without pictures but I'm going to do it anyway. This was the first 4th of July that I didn't spend in Blanding and Nate's third. We were so sad we didn't get to go home, play in Midnight Madness, watch the parade, drink some homemade root beer, and watch the fireworks with everyone but oh well. Nate is in the middle of the second o-chem and since he spends his entire life studying we just couldn't make it work. We did end up having a pretty good 4th anyway though. We watched the parade with Paij and Jay (the parade was super disappointing due to the fact it was made up of cars with ads on it and floats with only Korean kids riding on them, what the heck??) After that we went and played sand volleyball with a bunch of people and jumped in the reservoir to cool off. The absolute best part of the day though was eating at Cafe Rio. It was almost worth missing the 4th in Blanding just because we got to eat there. Nate then took the rest of the afternoon to study and later that night we watched Act of Valor on our laptop outside while we watched the fireworks. That was pretty awesome too. I'm kind of thinking that every year we will watch a patriotic movie while the fireworks are going off. Despite missing the 4th in Blanding, we did make our way over there that weekend for Nate's 22nd birthday and my Black family reunion. We were lucky enough to get to go out on Steve and Ginger's boat Friday night and hang out on Elk ridge all day Saturday for my reunion. I'm thinking it was especially a good weekend for Nate since he finally got his big TV, a coyote call, binoculars, and a binocular x-strap for his birthday. Not only that but he also claimed the coveted washer champion title along with Logan at the reunion. Next year I think we'll make the tournament a horseshoe tournament though because Cheyna and I rack up those ringer points ;) (we made up our own rules to the game and now everyone hates us) haha jk. Anyway, that's enough for this post, I'll be getting a camera for my birthday so I can liven up my blog.

Super Bowl and New Couches

So today we had a super bowl party at our house in honor of the fact that we FINALLY got new couches. Nate obsessed about finding the best deal on couches and he succeeded. Sofa and love seat for under $560 isn't too shabby! We did copy Dallan and Aysia's couch selection but it's fine because we live forever away. (Side note, we will be visiting them on March 9-12 when we go up for my lasik surgery and I can't wait!) Anyway, we had our good friend Randon Keyes, Jay Palmer, Darcy, Paig, Lizz, and a few other people and it was way fun. I actually spent the whole time on my computer doing homework because I couldn't care less about football but it sounded like they had fun haha.

Aside from the super bowl and new couches life has been pretty dull. Nate and I spent the last two Saturdays in a row at Canyon Creek Women's Crisis Center training since we both had to get volunteer hours for school and let me tell you what, it was the gayest thing ever. We spent most of our days listening to the difference between gays, semigays, and whatever the heck else kind of gays there are and we are SOO happy that it's over.

School in general has been pretty boring for me. This semester is our maternal/newborn semester and I thought that I would love it but all it has done for me is hate the fact that I'm a girl. Watching birthing videos is not pleasant and I'm not looking forward to the live version. Plus, this semester is pretty much just a bunch of presentations and i don't feel like I'm learning very much (even though I'm sure I am) so I can't wait until this semester is over

Nate's school is much harder than mine and he is constantly studying or working, I kind of feel bad for him! I think we have resorted to overeating to cope with both of our situations and it has proven to be a problem. We have successfully eaten a full pan of brownies in 24 hrs as well as a full cake in about 24 hrs (different sets of 24 hrs but still...)

But as for married life everything is good as usual. We don't really fight about anything besides things that Nate is wrong about so it's been good. We're just pluggin' along and yearning for summer when we can go fishing, swimming, and camping a lot but by the looks of things we won't be doing any of that for awhile!

P.S. The pictures for this post kind of suck because A#1 They're blurry due to the fact that we all kept moving and my camera sucks B#2 I didn't post Randon in a picture because the pictures I got of him were saved on my camera and not my camera card and I don't know how to get them off of my camera and C#3 You can't see what our couches look like very well.

Nate hard at work. P.S. He also made the shelf below, looks like Nate Burkus will have a lot of projects to do for me in his future.

New Apartment

So yeah, I still suck at this whole blogging thing (obviously since I said I was going to post about two weeks and didn't). Anyway, Nate and I have finally moved into our new apartment here in Cedar and we love it. Minus the fact that we have crappy internet, TV, and don't have a washer and dryer (drier??). But it's been awesome finally having a place where everything is ours. School has been in session for about a week now and it already seems like it's been forever. I'm in my 3rd semester of the nursing program here at SUU and Nate is doing his prerequisites to dental school. I'll be done with my program this December but Nate might have a good decade left to go haha who knows. We've had to get creative in order to have fun what with the lack of internet and TV so we've done a lot of card playing (most games in which Nate ends up losing)and cooking. We got our table and chairs a week ago so we spent our first few days here eating and sleeping on the floor. Never in my life have I been so grateful for a simple table, chairs, and bed lol. Like I said, we are loving Cedar for now but can never wait for our chance to go home to Blanding. I think I miss my niece Bryir more than anything, I can't get enough of the little Loolie Booty (my sisters will understand this name). Anyway I will try to post the few pictures that I have of our new place but if you're reading this and there are no pictures just assume that A) I'm an idiot, B) Our internet sucks, or C)I got distracted by some type of food.

Trying this blogging thing out....

This could very easily be my first and last post. I'm not sure that I have the patience of the brain power to run this thing but I guess I'll give it a try! I'll try to do an update later today. For now, this is just an experiment...
