Wake is Eight Months!

This month Wake has started showing such a little personality and cracks up at the darnedest things. He has made no new strides in the mobility department but likes to think he knows how to swim at bath time which he loves. He is still the happiest dude but did have to get hypospadias surgery a few days before his eight month mark and it was way sad but nit wasn't nearly as bad as I made it out to be in my head. I never felt like he was starving before surgery because they let me feed him six hours before and they didn't put his uv in until after he was out so that was awesome. The hardest part was him having a catheter for a week and not being able to sit in a saucer or a walker but we made it through and he did awesome. This month he...

Wears size 4 diapers and size 12-18 month clothes.

Loves every "real people" meal we've given him and likes all puréed food minus peas and carrots. He still nurses about every 2.5-3 hours during the day too.

Sleeps from 8 to about 5:30 then I feed him and he goes back to sleep until around 7.

Grew one mor bottom tooth giving him a total of seven.

LOVES the bath since i started getting in with him and let him take a real bath.

Thinks his aunties are so funny when they do high pitched fake laughs.

He is seriously so cute and I will miss his chubbiness when he grows up but man, I'm so excited for him to crawl or walk. I'm pretty sure it will be the greatest day of my life since he is slowly breaking my back one vertebrae at a time with his fat 22 pound self who holds none of his own weight. Here are pics of this month:

This picture shows the extent of his neck obesity.
Loves playing peak a boo on our bed.
His expression was too good here.
Loves his new bouncy saucer.
Him getting fed in his stroller since he couldn't be in his bumbo after surgery.

I had to laugh at how lazy he is. He just parked his little chin on Nate's leg and proceeded to watch the football game like that haha.

Seven Months of Wake

JWake is growing up and just becoming a little dude. This month he got his top two middle teeth giving him a grand total of six teeth and it makes him look so much older it cracks me up. It, obviously, caused his sleeping to suck so we had to finally let him cry it out at night. The first night he cried for about forty-five minutes before falling back asleep but since then anytime he wakes up he pretty much puts himself back to sleep within a few minutes so it's been pretty good. We still put him down at 8 and up for the day around 8 usually waking up a couple of times between then but I've stopped getting up as much at night with him. He did finally get his first cold this month (I didn't think he ever would since breast milk is magical) and it totally wrecked his sleeping until I got a cool mist humidifier and it's been awesome. Other things this month are:

Still in size 3 diapers and 12-18 month clothing.

Is able to sit up on his own although he will topple over once in awhile when he gets distracted by something on his left or right.

Has pretty much tolerated all solid food except peas and carrots. I use the word tolerated because I think he eats what little he does just to get me to stop singing (it's the only way he'll open his mouth) but doesn't seem to really love anything. He definitely likes bananas the best. I've also given him some Popsicles, pancakes, can pumpkin bread and he digs real food a lot more. He still nurses right before and right after each nap.

He is now down to two naps a day. Usually a two hour nap in the morning and an hour nap in the evening but he is a million times better about going to sleep at night than he is about naps. He has always gone right to sleep at night when I put him down.

Talks all day and loves the sound of his own voice. He is also super nimble at nights these days too.

Here are pictures of this month:

Pumped being nakey nake.
Thinking he's all rich with his twenty.
Oh the nimbleness...
Terrible of me but this picture was too good since it caught his big ol' tongue sticking out. This is what he looks like when he just yells and yells to hear his own voice.

All bundled for one of our many morning runs.
Had to throw this in there. Nate finally bought a little fishing boat since the city is sucking the life out of us. Seriously, how to people live where there's stop lights long term? Can't. Freaking. Figure. It. Out. Anyway, we'll see if we ever get time to use it.
Yes, this is how messy our house gets everyday but you do what you have to to get by.
Stoked to be on Nate's shoulders. They do this constantly...
Loves playing on our bed.
Sitting up by himself, finally!

Jamming with dad. Him and all four of his chins lol jk.

Wakey Boy Turns Six Months Old

II feel like Wake has changed a ton this last month and I never thought I'd say this, because I can't wait for him to start talking and being able to do more things, but this is definitely an age I wish I could freeze him in. He has just gotten so smiley and obese and those are two of the best qualities of a baby. The first is, of course, being a good sleeper and he has been pretty good for the most part which obviously makes me like him more ha. He, for the most part, goes down right at 8 and wakes up once around 5 and then will go back to sleep for about two more hours and usually naps three times a day. A short nap in the morning, a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon, and a short nap in the evening. He can only stay awake for about 2-2.5 hours at a time before he starts getting tired. His sleeping did suck pretty bad for about a week and a half right after he turned 5 months because he was busy growing 4 teeth! Yup, the two bottom middle teeth popped up within a couple of days of each other and then his two teeth that should be next to his top, middle teeth popped out about a week later. So, needless to say he looks a little snaggle since he missed growing his front middle teeth first but, luckily, his dad is going to be a dentist ha. This month he

Weighed 18lb 15 oz (76th percentile), was 27.5 inches tall (85th percentile), and his head circumference was 44cm (70th percentile). So he has definitely caught up in the growth department.

Started solids and gags when I give him peas and carrots (saddest/funniest thing ever) but seems to like rice cereal, bananas, prunes, and apples okay.

Still can't sit up on his own but is getting closer all the time.

Wears size 3 diapers and 12-18 month clothing still.

Has started biting the crap out of me when he nurses with those four new choppers of his.

Still doesn't care much for the swing, slide, or pool. Just very indifferent about it.

Here are some pictures of this month:
He started wearing hats and I'm loving it.
This is how I find him when he wakes up from naps. Super pumped usually in his Jersey Shore King zip pity zip of Aunty C's haha.
Don't be deceived. He did not like those nasty peas.
Diggin' rice cereal.

Cutest shirt and tie that Susanne got him.
Not giving a crap about the swings... Maybe he never will. I personally hate them.
Getting him ready for bed... His routine is eat, bathe, story time, counting time, singing time, then eat again, and then bed. Poor kid...
Another couch selfie. I'm clearly more excited than he.
Him getting his shots is getting sadder every time.

Five Months and Flying

So we finally took awake home to Blanding so that our families could meet him and it was so fun/so exhausting. It was a whole new experience doing Blanding with a baby. He really did as good on the airplane as we could have hoped for but I'm still SO glad I didn't attempt flying on my own with him. I needed two extra hands to get through security, to go to the bathroom, and especially to help with switching sides when I fed him. I'm hoping though that once he's eating less often and becomes a little more easy to hold (not so giant and awkward and not holding his own weight yet) that I'll feel like I can fly on my own at Christmas time. His sleeping really sucked the first week there from the combination of jet lag and him trying to break the swaddle and it almost ruined the trip it THANK HEAVENS Cheyna let us use her Zippity Zip. He went from waking up 3-4 times a night to once or sleeping all the way through it the second week. However now that we're back in Kentucky we're back to square one. Nate is sure he has been teething the past few days and I'm not quite sure since this is my first rodeo but I sure hope there's an explanation for his newfound fussiness and crappy sleeping. Ányway, things I want to remember for flying next time since all the dumb bloggers were basically useless to me are:

Make sure to bring a small padded blanket to lay on the ground for them to play when we're waiting in the airport or even on the plane if they can't crawl or sit up yet.

We used a lightweight stroller send checked it at the gate which I think was a good call but I think if I were traveling alone I would want a baby carrier so I could have more free hands and not worry about an extra thing to deal with and wait for getting on and off the plane.

Bring extra frozen milk (thanks Cheyn) is a must in case you're to stressed or hurried to nurse. The hand pump and cover was also crucial for not having to stop to feed on the car ride to and from the airport.

A show downloaded beforehand on the iPad is pretty necessary especially when they're older I'm sure.

Make sure they're sucking something on take off and landing (he used the bink).

Obviously bring things in case of a blowout like more clothes for each of us and a plastic bag to put dirty ones in.

Try to sit in the very back and by a window because you're closer to the bathroom, it feels more private for nursing, you're less worried about ruining everyone else's flight with your baby, and if there are extra seAts they'll usually be in the back.

This month I feel like Wake got a lot bigger but didn't change as much as he has in previous months he:

Wèars size 3 diapers, 12-18 month pajamas, and size 12 clothes.

Rolls over constantly both ways but way prefers to be on his belly and has now become quite mobile just through rolling on the ground alone.

He goes to sleep at 8 and usually wakes up twice until 6-8 am. He also usually takes about three naps a day. A short one in the morning and in the evening and a 2-3 nap mid day.

Is such a belly sleeper since his newfound freedom of the Zippity Zip sack we got from Cheyn to help him break the swaddle which saved us in Blanding (thanks Aunty C).

Likes and can handle his saucer just a little bit better and loves things like patty cake and singing haha.

He usually takes no longer than 15 minutes to nurse and wants to eat about every 2.5-3 hours.

Is the snortiest little thing when he gets mad.

Here is the picture overload:
Loves to eat his toesies.
Exhibit A,B,C,D,E,F
Has an obsession with things with faces.
Kick in' it on the plane... His long self proved to be kind of hard to hold in such a tiny area.
Few more pictures from the plane...
Meeting grandma and grandpa Einerson for the first time.
Meèting great grandma and grandpa Johnson for the first time. They are 93 I think in this picture!
First time swimming... He didn't hate it because he never cried but he didn't love it either. Very indifferent haha.
Me and my Loulie making a fort underneath the lifeguard stand. She is seriously the nicest, most helpful, and well behaved child on the planet. I didn't get to spend as much time with her as I wanted but it was so fun to see her. I don't however miss the incessant rock and leaf collecting we had to do every second lol she is seriously obsessed.
It was so fun getting to finally know Aiky this trip too. These two pictures sum up their interactions pretty well haha. He is the loviest kid ever and just wanted to smother Wake with hugs and kisses the whole time. He also had a Hay day pushing his "little invalid cousin" around in the stroller lol so funny that they'll be in the same grade. It was hilarious watching him cart Wake around in the Dinosaur Museum.
Brewski and Wakey twinning it up at Grams Kathy's house. Never a dull moment with Brew around ha it was so fun staying up at my mom's with Ays and Brew. Almost every second of everyday Brew wanted to ride the "four whee" and when he wasn't riding the four whee he was contemplating whether or not to steal Wake's bink haha it made for good entertainment watching him obsess about whether or not to give it back to him or not. They are already buddies these two.
Oh so many cute pictures of Wake and Aus boss. They loved just laying in this crib together and figuring each other out. These two will be in the same grade too and it will be so fun to watch them play together in a few months. This girl is seriously the cutest and I wish these babies could hang out everyday.
Wake's first camp out!
This picture has a specific caption of "Wake the Wady." I normally wouldn't allow this but this is the Zippity Zip Cheyn let us use to help Wake break the swaddle and since it's so girly Ays slapped a pink headband on him, gave him this caption, and snapped a picture. I have to admit he is a pretty cute girl haha.
Nate insisted I take this pic.
This is the classic picture of my dad and Mugs with one of his grandkids.
Bry wrapped Wake up like this and I thought it was so cute. Poor Wake, hopefully he doesn't turn out gay.
Wake and grams Black!
First and only time he has ever fallen asleep mid play. Weirdest thing ever.
This was a last minute pic with Auntie A. He had clearly had it with the day by that point.
Also not the happiest with Lou for some reason ha.
Wake and Mimi.
